Links

To create hyperlinks in Brightspace, use the Quicklink tool.  Follow the below steps to embed web links directly into your text:

Key Points to remember for headings
  • Use clear, descriptive text (avoid "click here" or "read more").

  • Link text should make sense out of context.

  • Don’t use just URLs as links (unless necessary).

  • Ensure links are keyboard accessible (tab-friendly).

Where to find Links

  • Step 1: Click on Quick link

  • Step 2: Add the desired URL

  • Step 3: Enter the text to be displayed

  • Step 4: Click Insert

You can also:

  • Step 1: Click on Insert Stuff Icon

  • Step 2: Select URL

  • Step 3: Add the URL and the text to be displayed

  • Step 4: Click Insert

You can preview before inserting the text.

To improve web accessibility, use clear and descriptive hyperlink text instead of raw URLs or vague phrases like "click here" or "more." Avoid placing multiple links next to each other that lead to the same destination, as this can confuse screen reader users. Clearly indicate the link’s purpose, such as specifying if it downloads a file or redirects to an external site. This helps assistive technologies, like ReadSpeaker, convey accurate information, ensuring an inclusive user experience.
