Meets Mondays 3:30-4:30pm in HC 1020 on February 10, March 3, March 24, and April 14

Join Head Public and Research Services Librarian, Nancy Calabrese, for the Spring 2025 Book Club on Distracted: Why Students Can't Focus and What You Can Do About It (2020) by James M. Lang. Drawing from historical examples, cognitive science research, and his own teaching experience, Lang challenges the notion of sustained, undivided attention as the ideal. Instead, he proposes practical strategies for working with students' natural attention cycles. The book provides concrete techniques for designing learning environments and activities that acknowledge these patterns while fostering deeper engagement.
