How to Create a Simple Weighted Gradebook


Step 1 : From Grades, click on the Setup Wizard.

Step 2 : Click on Start at the bottom of the page.

Step 3 : Select Weighted for the Grading System. Then click on Continue at the bottom.

Step 4 : Choose which Grade will become the grade that students will see as the final grade (Calculated or Adjusted) and then select if you would like the final grade to be released automatically. Click on Continue.

Step 5 : Choose whether items that have not been graded should be dropped (do not affect final score) or treated as 0. It is recommended to drop ungraded items to prevent confusion among students. Check the box to automatically keep the final grade updated. Click on Continue.

Step 6 : Select a Grade Scheme. For most faculty, Marist General will be the scheme you use. If your school has another scheme that is listed, you can select that. Click on Continue.

Step 7 : Choose how many decimal points you would like to be displayed. Then click on Continue.

Step 8 : Update how students will see the gradebook. Click on Continue when finished.

Step 9 : Review the gradebook settings, and then click on Finish.
