Meeting and Webinar Summaries
Meeting hosts can start an AI-generated summary during their session. If the host chooses to share it, participants will automatically receive the summary after the meeting ends.
Zoom AI Companion
Getting started with Zoom AI Companion:
Zoom AI Companion is your built-in smart assistant designed to enhance productivity across meetings within the ZoomMate tools (Zoom Slides, Sheets, Canvas and Paper) are available to create content, the AI portion for analyzing, synthesizing, and aggregating content is unavailable. The existing Zoom AI Companion meeting summaries, In-Meeting Catch-Up, Smart Recordings and virtual background creation are available from the Zoom application.
AI Tools for Smarter Meetings:
- Meeting Summaries: Automatically generates key takeaways, next steps, and action items without needing to record video.
- In-Meeting Catch-Up: Lets late participants query what they missed or check if their name was mentioned using a side panel.
- Smart Recordings: Creates chapters, highlights, and action clips from cloud recordings.
How do you access Zoom AI:
AI features can be universally enabled or disabled in your account using this Marist Zoom link.

Log in using your Single Sign-On (SSO) credentials.

Click on your profile picture in the top-right corner after logging in.

Scroll down and select Settings from the menu.

Under the General tab, you'll find the Zoom AI Companion option. You can toggle it on or off, it's enabled by default.
Transcript Access and Data Sources:
Meeting hosts can retain, access, and manage transcripts generated by AI Companion. Transcripts are saved by default, with auto-deletion set to 180 days.
Zoom is connected to your Microsoft 365 account.
Best Practices for Using Zoom AI Companion

Inform Participants: Let others know if AI Companion features like summaries or recordings are enabled.

Sensitive Information: Do not discuss personal, financial, or health information with AI tools actively unless in a secured environment. Stop AI tools before such discussions.

Edit Before Sharing: Always review AI-generated content (summaries, clips, transcripts) for errors or incomplete information.

Retention: AI-generated content is stored in the cloud for 30 days. Download or transfer data if you need it longer.

Turn Off When Needed: Use the "Stop Summary" or "Stop Recording" options if sensitive topics come up during the meeting.

Pause/Stop Zoom AI companion during meetings
Please follow the below instructions:
If confidential topics arise use “Stop Summary” or “Stop Recording”. Use the bottom bar and click the AI companion menu (✨) to pause/stop using AI features during a meeting or delete them at any point. You can also check if the current conversation has AI features by checking the top left corner for the four pointed star icon.
